Product Description

QuikFix BC 102 is a hand-mixable, NON-SHRINKING, filled epoxy putty which when cured becomes an integral part of the wooden item being repaired, rebuilt, or restored. One hour after mixing, QuikFix BC 102 can be drilled, sawed, sanded, filed, tapped, machined, or painted. It comes in a handy, 2 oz. "tootsie roll" form with the curing agent encapsulated in the contrasting color base material. The putty like consistency eliminates drips and runs, providing "no mess" applications with no tools required for use. QuikFix BC 102 belongs in every toolbox.

Basic Uses

After proper mixing, QuikFix BC 102 molds like clay to repair, rebuild, or restore anything made of wood. It fills nail and screw holes, gouges, and scratches, and replaces rotten and worn wood. It repairs moldings, panel frames, and furniture, including leveling table and chair legs. QuikFix BC 102 can be used to reshape woodcarvings and wood parts such as handles, knobs, and pulls. It can also be used as an adhesive in making general wood-to-wood, and wood to metal bonding. QuikFix BC 102 contains no solvents, will not shrink, pull away, or dry out and is non-toxic. QuikFix BC 102 may be used in interior and exterior applications as it is virtually unaffected by weather. Sanding of cured QuikFix BC 102 may be used in interior and exterior applications as it is virtually unaffected by weather. Sanding of cured QuikFix BC 102 is recommended prior to applying paint or stain, QuikFix BC 102 may accept stain differently than wood. Test before using. The unused portion of QuikFix BC 102 will remain stable for years if stored in its container at room temperature.

Application

Surface Preparation:
In order to achieve optimum adhesion, surfaces should be clean and free of grease and dirt. Scuffing or sanding the surface prior to cleaning helps ensure a good bond.

Mixing:
Twist or cut off required amount. To mix, knead with fingers to a uniform color. If mixing is difficult, warm QuikFix BC 102 to a room temperature of slightly above. Apply to the surface to be repaired (within 15-20 minutes of mixing). Force into any cracks or holes to be filled and strike off excess material, preferably with a tool wetted with clean water. When applying to damp, wet, or slowly leaking area, work he material forcefully into the surface and apply pressure until adhesion begins to take effect.

For a smooth appearance of the cured compound, hand rub with water or a damp cloth prior to hardening. Remove excess material before hardening begins. After 15-20 minutes the epoxy will begin to form a tenacious bond. After just 60 minutes QuikFix BC 102 can be drilled, sawed, carved, sanded, stained, or painted.

Health Precautions

When mixing by hand, QuikFix BC 102 does not cause skin irritation to individuals with normal skin sensitivity. Individuals with extra sensitive skin should maintain caution and wash hands thoroughly after mixing the compound, or wear thin plastic gloves. QuikFix BC 102 has been classified non-toxic and non-skin irritating when tested versus the requirements of the Federal Hazardous Substances Labeling Act.
